[LISTEN] Solo Davis drops brand new single “HOOPT!E”

Solo Davis definitely has a summer slap on his hands with his latest beatsbyfalak produced single "HOOPT!E", but my takeaway was a bit more introspective. On the surface the song could be characterized by his unique vocal inflections and laid-back delivery over a hard-hitting a beat, but from my POV I hear someone expressing their ability to defy odds. Despite riding around in an old ‘97 Honda, Solo has found a way to attract women, make plays, get money, etc. I hear someone that feels proud of the way they’ve been able to defeat the odds.

Using a sped up sample of Nicole Croisille's 1971 song "I'll Never Leave You", the song's beat is infectious and draws you in instantly. Solo's confident and boisterous delivery perfectly matches the energetic nature of the song, making it the listeners instinct to turn the volume up a few extra notches from the moment the beat drops.

While the lyrics seem primarily about Solo flexing his rap abilities with slight references to his "HOOPT!E", it's all done in good fun and adds to the carefree vibe of the song. With a fairly extensive catalogue, "HOOPT!E" is a great addition to Solo Davis' discography and a must-listen for fans of his music or anyone looking for a catchy and upbeat rap song with perhaps a little more meaning than first meets the ear.

[WATCH] Beltz drops BRAND NEW visual for ‘X’s and Oh’s’

Beltz's "Ex's and Oh's" is a great example of how to balance content with aesthetic. The song (released a year prior to the visual) urges listeners to give people their flowers while they are still here on this earth, a message that is conveyed perfectly through Beltz's rockstar voice and the raw passion that he brings to each word. Despite the dark and somewhat sinister aesthetic of Ryan Rutjes directed video that accompanies the song, Beltz's message shines through.

The rock elements of the song are well-balanced with hip-hop instrumentals, which creates a unique sound that doesn't feel forced or out of place. Beltz's voice has an edge that lends itself well to this genre-bending approach, and his energy is undeniable. His sound is almost a mix between Future and Jelly Roll, with a unique edge that helps to set him apart from his contemporaries.

This is a perfect example of why visuals still matter in 2023, as the scenery give the sound even more meaning. Beltz can be seen burning money and his facial expressions in the video gives the viewer a real look into how he was feeling during the creation process.

"Ex's and Oh's" is a great showcase of Beltz's talent and a song that deserves to be heard by a wider audience. If you're a fan of hip-hop with a touch of rock, then this is a song that you won't want to miss.

Paul Blaze always seems to deliver and his most recent visual release is no exception. 'Netflix’ featuring Ggualla G shot on location in the heart of Los Angeles by videographer @shotbystarks, the video features dark sinister back alleys as well as the beautiful side of California with the sun shining over the palm trees taking the viewer on a journey through the ups and downs of street life.

With clever references to binge-worthy Netflix series, Blaze paints a vivid picture of his life as if it were a movie on the popular streaming platform. Ggualla G's guest verse adds an extra layer of depth to the story, showcasing the harsh realities that come with street life and the importance of staying true to oneself.

One of the highlights for me is the ode to Paul’s close friends and fallen soldiers Boss Celly & Moneygang Vontae, with the video beginning and ending with a candle light vigil dedicated to them in remembrance of their lives that were cut far too soon. 🙏🕊️

This video is must-see TV for fans of hip-hop and anyone who appreciates excellent storytelling. The visuals, combined with the hard-hitting lyrics, create a powerful piece of art that will stick with you long after the final credits roll.
