Video Review By: Jake Faircloth

Young Rizz's music video for "Still R.I.Z.Z." showcases his undeniable lyrical talent and smooth flow over the classic Dr. Dre beat for "Still D.R.E." Shot by Robert Henry outdoors in the snow, the video features a festive Christmas theme, perfectly capturing Minneapolis where the rapper hails from. The inclusion of beautiful women adds to the holiday cheer, while simultaneously highlighting the rapper's cool demeanor and undeniable swagger.

What's maybe most impressive, however, is Young Rizz's ability to stand out over such an iconic beat - something that can be a challenge for any rapper. From start to finish, he maintains a tone of confidence and ease that's both impressive and infectious. I had my doubts when the beat dropped but this was truly a fresh take on a classic track that's worth a listen for fans of both old-school hip hop and modern rap alike.

What stands out most about the visual for "Still R.I.Z.Z." is Robert Henry's cinematography, particularly the use of lighting and colors. Against the snowy backdrop, the warm tones of the women's clothing and accessories, coupled with the flashing lights create a visually striking contrast that draws the viewer in. Even when the rapper is performing alone in the cold, the camera captures him in a way that feels dynamic and captivating.

Overall, I would say the visual component of this music video enhances the overall experience of the song, making it more captivating with Young Rizz almost saying there isn’t anyone colder than him while proving his lyrical ability and challenging any and all opponents

As I watched the music video for "Kyng" by Raeboo featuring Ladii Love, the first thing that struck me was the skillful cinematography by Timothy Lens. The video was shot in Minneapolis and showcased the city's landscape in a beautiful way.

The song, with its catchy beat and poignant lyrics about seeking power and success, was perfectly complemented by the visuals of the video. Raeboo's performance exuded confidence and charisma throughout the video. Ladii Love's additional vocals gave the song/video another layer of depth with the chorus pleading with the viewer to get out of the streets.

But what I found most intriguing about the video was the way it played with themes of identity and ambition. Raeboo's performance was a masterclass in charisma and drive, but underneath the bravado I sensed a slight level of self-doubt and vulnerability. This added a layer of emotional depth to the video, as it explored the challenges that come with striving for greatness.

Overall, I found the "Kyng" music video to be a unique and introspective piece of art. With its expert cinematography, compelling performances, and thought-provoking themes, it is definitely worth watching – and re-watching – to fully appreciate its brilliance.

"KYNG" is also available across all Digital Streaming Platforms as a part of the newly released project titled "Low End Rida"

Fari Oso - "Love Songs Frm Da Tangle" Album Review

Northside Minneapolis representative Fari Oso's "Love Songs Frm Da Tangle" is a dynamic and engaging addition to what the Minnesota music scene has to offer. This album showcases Oso's versatility as a rapper, a lyricist, as well as a vocal instrumentalist. The production value on the album is impressive, with each beat feeling carefully crafted to support Oso's delivery.

Lyrically, Oso shines on tracks like "Not Say" feat. MarvelousMusik, which serves as the album's intro. Oso's wordplay and storytelling skills are on full display, as he weaves together vivid and complex narratives that are both entertaining and thought-provoking.

One of the other standout tracks on the album is "P House" feat. Prince Cray and PC Freak which also has a music video that adds an extra layer of visual storytelling. The beat is infectious and all three artists’ verses are tightly packed with clever rhymes and punchy lines that make the listener sit up and take notice. Request this one on Friday or Saturday night at Goldroom and it’s sure to go up.

Perhaps the the biggest standout of the 13 track, 37 minute 25 second long project is on the self-produced “Anything!!!” where Fari stands alone  speaking on overcoming obstacles and achieving success while highlighting various challenges and moral dilemmas that he or someone might face when living in a world where violence and crime are prevalent. "ANYTHING!!!" presents a vivid image of gritty street life and the various challenges that come along with it while celebrating overcoming these obstacles and achieving success in spite of long odds.

A few other noteworthy features on the album are JonRay (Weight), SMG Reeko (Definition of a Bad B*tch & Afraid WitSum FN) and Lil Crush (Girls) who’s addition to the project is particularly noteworthy, as it adds a new dimension to the album's overall sound. The interplay between Lil Crush and Fari highlights Oso's ability to work collaboratively and incorporate a range of styles and perspectives into his music.

Overall, "Love Songs Frm Da Tangle" is a vibrant and exciting album that showcases Fari Oso's skill and passion for the genre as well as highlights just how much talent and creativity exists in The Twin Cities.

Whether you've been aware of his presence in music or are just discovering him for the first time, this album is sure to impress. Highly recommended.

The project can be found across all digital streaming platforms
